  • Blue Sumatra Coffee

    Coffee-Direct.co.uk Blue Sumatra Coffee

This strong Indonesian coffee comes from Sumatra, the second largest of the Indonesian islands, and is considered among the finest examples from the region. Indonesia itself is the fourth largest coffee producer in the world, and the longitude and latitude of the country make for particularly well suited micro-climates in producing a diverse, flavoursome variety of beans. In fact, depending on the region, Indonesian coffees are known to be imbued with flavours of cocoa, smoke, cedar wood, earth and tobacco, and there are varieties of both arabica and robusta beans produced in great quantities. Our Blue Sumatra is smooth and aromatic, with a well balanced spiciness that is typical of Sumatran coffees, while a full body and a little acidity provides a delightful hint of intensity, making this a pleasure to drink from a cafetiere, filter, or as an espresso. Check out our full range of Asian coffee. Based on the characteristics of this variety, you might like to try guatemala elephant coffee beans. Want to learn more about Blue Sumatra Coffee? • Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee

    Coffee-Direct.co.uk Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee

Decaffeinated coffee is ideal for those who want to enjoy their favourite blends at any time of day, without the effects of caffeine, however the process of removing caffeine from a bean can also remove much of the bean's flavour. That's why the Swiss Water Process is a favourite method of decaffeinating coffee: it doesn't remove the flavour and strength of coffee beans in the act of removing the caffeine, and doesn't use any chemicals. In the method, coffee beans are first soaked in hot water to remove 99.9% of the caffeine. This liquid is then processed through activated charcoal to remove the caffeine, leaving behind the flavoured, caffeine-free liquid. The beans are then soaked in this liquid to absorb the flavour, resulting in a decaffeinated coffee bean that is 100% free of chemicals, and packed full of flavour. Our Swiss Water coffee is a medium roast Arabica from Brazil, versatile and flavoursome enough to be enjoyed filtered or as an espresso, and it won't keep you up at night. • Mocha Java Coffee

    Coffee-Direct.co.uk Mocha Java Coffee

Possibly the world's most famous coffee blend, and certainly among the earliest of known blends, the celebrated Mocha Java is a combination of two distinct arabica beans from Indonesia and Yemen. The Mocha bean, taking its name from the port city that sits next to the Red Sea, is a smaller, rounder bean than many other varieties. It is suggested that the first European to sample Mocha was the Spanish Jesuit missionary, Pedro Páez Jaramillo, who encountered the unique coffee during his time in Yemen. The Java arabica bean undergoes an attentive preparation process, whereby the ripe cherries are quickly transported to their mills once harvested, and their pulp is then fermented and washed off, resulting in the typical sweet characteristics of the bean. Our mild and complex Mocha Java displays a delicious flavour combination of fruit, chocolate and spiciness that produces a superb, well balanced cup of coffee, ideal for filter or cafetiere.
